From Squash Auckland, New Zealand: World Squash Day is back for 2020 and will be held around the globe on the 10th October with the goal of creating the biggest social media campaign in the history of squash as we bid to relaunch and reinvigorate the game following the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Squash clubs around the Auckland region will be doing their part by opening their doors between 1pm-4pm on World Squash Day to welcome in their local community and invite them to see what facilities they have to offer along with giving people the chance to try squash for free.
Clubs will also have a number of other activities running on the day ranging from coaching to exhibition matches and tournaments. Those clubs that are dual-code with tennis will also be running open events as part of the ‘Love Tennis’ national open weekend, giving visitors an opportunity to try both sports.
Racquets and balls are provided for those keen to give it a go, with just non-marking shoes required for the squash courts. Club volunteers will be on hand with membership and coaching information, as well as membership specials available only on the day.
Current players can join in the fun and help promote World Squash Day through the #whyilovesquash social media campaign. Post a message and selfie on social media with the hashtag #whyilovesquash and share on all the Squash Auckland, Squash NZ, and World Squash Day social media platforms.
